Ethereum is a decentralized open source blockchain platform for decentralized applications. Ethereum provides a decentralized virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which allows developers to build and deploy decentralized applications on Ethereum’s blockchain, which is powered by ETH.
ETH (or Ether) is the primary asset of the Ethereum blockchain. ETH is generated by Ethereum miners as a reward for computations performed to secure the blockchain.
Not only is ETH a digital currency, store of value, but it also fuels and secures the Ethereum blockchain and the applications that run on Ethereum. The more people utilizing Ethereum based applications, the higher the demand will be for ETH which will increase its value.
Ethereum was initially proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin and currently holds the second largest market capitalization behind Bitcoin.
